Over a year and a half ago, Emilia Schmidt was living in her home country of Australia. She was the No. 1 draft pick for the inaugural season of MLP Australia and had already begun proving herself as a rising talent overseas. Since then, she has relocated to the United States to pursue her professional pickleball career and further establish herself as a top talent in the sport globally.
In the past month alone, Schmidt has stacked up impressive results, highlighted by her third straight APP Next Gen title two weekends ago in Kansas City. She topped fellow rising stars Brooke Revuelta and Ava Cavataio to secure the win, adding to her previous triumphs in St. Louis in July and San Antonio back in February.
In between her APP Next Gen three-peat, Schmidt paired up with fellow Aussie, Danni-Elle Townsend, to play in the APP Newport, where they downed numerous tour staples such as Shelby Bates and Kelsey Grambeau as well as Nicole Eugenio and Christine Maddox to reach their maiden APP Final. While they weren’t able to walk away with gold, it showed that Schmidt can compete with the best.
