Team Selkirk’s Catherine Parenteau continued her elite form on Friday at the PPA Bristol Open, teaming up with Christian Alshon to punch their ticket to the semifinals of the pro mixed doubles draw. The third-seeded duo showed poise, chemistry, and championship-level grit across three straight-set wins on their way to Sunday’s showdown.

Dominant Start in Early Rounds

Parenteau and Alshon opened their campaign against the No. 37 seeds Michael Lloyd & Tamaryn Emmrich, cruising to a confident 11-4, 11-7 victory in the Round of 32. The pair’s crisp shot-making and controlled aggression set the tone for the day ahead.

In the Round of 16, they faced a tougher test in the form of Hunter Johnson & Jade Kawamoto, the No. 20 seeds. But they squad rose to the occasion once again, tightening up their defense and dictating points to secure a decisive 11-7, 11-4 win.

Quarterfinal Thriller vs. Patriquin & Todd

The quarterfinals brought their biggest challenge of the day: the No. 8 seeds Hayden Patriquin & Parris Todd, known for their explosive court coverage and counterattack skills. In one of the day’s most entertaining matchups, Parenteau and Alshon edged out a thrilling win, grinding through pressure moments to prevail 13-11, 12-10.

From Erne attempts to backhand flick winners, the match showcased the full toolkit of both players. Parenteau’s steady control on the left set up Alshon’s powerful finishes, and the team weathered multiple surges to seal the win.

Next Up: Johns & Waters Await

With a spot in the finals on the line, Parenteau and Alshon will take on the tournament’s top seeds, Ben Johns & Anna Leigh Waters, in Sunday’s semifinal clash. It’s a high-stakes matchup featuring four of the sport’s most electric talents—and a potential statement win for Selkirk's star.
